Finally!! The Rock announces release date for ‘Jumanji’ sequel, smacks down Charlie from Busted

You might not think Dwayne Johnson announcing the release date for his next movie would result in him smacking down (verbally, that is) a member of a no-longer-boy band, but here we are nonetheless.

The whole thing started when The Rock – who literally charges $1 million a tweet from major movie studios to promote the actual movies he’s in – put up the release date for the as-yet-untitled sequel to ‘Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle’, which was itself a sequel to the original ‘Jumanji’ with Robin Williams. All pretty standard enough so far, right?

‘Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle’ was a commercial hit, after all, even if it didn’t exactly resonate with critics – but what do they know? As it turns out, one of those critics of The Rock’s sequel just so happened to be one Charlie Simpson of pop-punk-boy-band-but-don’t-call-them-that-because-they-have-guitars Busted.

Here’s Charlie’s tweet.

So, of course, The Rock isn’t going to let some candy-ass talk about his movie like that so he goes in for the Rock Bottom and then drops the People’s Elbow on him while he’s at it – but instead of all those things, he just makes a vague threat against him.

The other part of this, of course, is that this is just a clever ploy by The Rock to get people like us to write about it? In wrestling, they call that a ‘work’. Look it up.

The ‘Jumanji’ sequel arrives on December 13th, 2019.
