The death of Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz last week has caused an uproar.

The details surrounding the teen’s passing are gruesome and sorrowful. Tears were bound to flow in court, but the eyes from which they flowed garnered no real sympathy. One of the suspects was seen crying while the charges against him were being read aloud.

The circumstances leading up to this moments were unfortunately sorrowful. It is said that Junior’s murder was a “mistake.” The hit was allegedly carried out by the Trinitarios, a Dominican-American street gang. The leader of the New York-based group is said to have confirmed the mistake in a Snapchat video, saying: “I know it doesn’t mean a lot. It wasn’t supposed to be him.” Two cops are also being questioned by authorities for negligence. The pair had not offered any apparent aid to Junior while he laid on the sidewalk bleeding from his wounds. A more effective response might have saved the victim’s life.
